AMA Drone Report 06.29.17: WienerDrone!, IL Pilot Fights Regs, DRL's $100K Prize

Also: FL Drone Law, Weird NY Drone Bill, UK Restrictions Proposed, FPV With Style – The Cinemizer

Remember when you were a kid ... maybe just last week ... and it was really cool when the Oscar Mayer Wienermobile would come to town? Well, the venerable "Wienermobile" is no longer the only promotional vehicle used by the iconic brand.

First came the WienerMini and WienerRover. And now, say hello to the WienerDrone. This unique vehicle will  set off on a journey to no better place than Weiner, Arkansas for the ultimate Fourth of July celebration. The Evanston, IL City Council had a very restrictive drone law on its agenda recently which had one local resident ready to file a lawsuit should it be approved. The Evanston ordinance would have required recreational drone users to get the permission of any property owner in the city before flying over it. But South Elgin resident Keith Kmieciak thinks that goes too far, and he and his attorney, Jeff Antonelli, say that only the FAA can regulate the use of airspace. The local police say only one drone complaint has been filed with the department so far this year... When the dust settles on the Drone Racing League Championships later this summer, the top pilot will walk away with $100,000. The telecasts of the DRL Allianz World Championships began last week ESPN. Sixteen pilots are competing in venues such as NFL stadiums and abandoned malls. All this -- and MORE in today's episode of the AMA Drone Report!!!
