AirDialog Announces Fedex Feeder Agreement

Albuquerque Part 135 Operator Throws In With Big Purple

Commencing flight operations on 07 June 2022, Albuquerque NM-based cargo airline AirDialog became the first new Part 135 air carrier to launch with FedEx in over 20 years.

The inaugural flight provided cargo service between Gallup and Albuquerque, and instantiated what AirDialog President and Director of Finance David DeRose called, a groundbreaking opportunity to be a part of the FedEx feeder network. DeRose, a former Ameriflight executive, added, “ … we look forward to expanding cargo operations to serve customers in the Southwest and beyond.”

Consistent with DeRose’s statement, AirDialog plans to expand its fleet, route-structure, and base network throughout the Southwest and Western United States over the next 18 months.

AirDialog is actively recruiting line pilots to crew its fleet of Cessna C-208 Caravans. The carrier’s website states pilots will fly predictable schedules, and may anticipate being home nights, weekends, and holidays—a spectacular rarity among pilot workplace conventions. Pilots with experience flying the Caravan are encouraged to visit airdialog.com.

The Federal Aviation Administration granted AirDialog approval to add the Cessna 208 Caravan to its carrier certificate earlier this year, thereby enabling the airline to actualize its agreement with FedEX.

FedEX was one of the first major shipping companies to offer overnight delivery as a flagship service. The company is also among the U.S. Government’s top contractors, assisting in the transport of United States Postal Service packages. FedEx's air shipping services have made its main hub (aka the "Superhub") at Memphis International Airport the busiest cargo airport in the world.

A perusal of FedEx related postings turned up the following advice for individuals seeking pilot positions with the company:

  • Meet the basic pilot qualification criteria.
  • Move to Memphis.
  • Join a church and country-club in the Germantown/Collierville area.
  • Make connections at the aforementioned for purpose of meeting the chief-pilot’s daughter.
  • Marry her.
  • Remain married (at least) until you get off probation.
