15 More Pilots With Fake Licenses Discovered
Pakistan's aviation woes continue. Following the scandal that took place weeks ago when media reports documented the fact that many Pakistani pilots were flying with bogus tickets, more fake pilots continue to be uncovered... and grounded.
So far, media reports suggest that 262 pilots were found to have questionable certifications and put under investigation. Further; another 15 pilots have been busted and suspended by Aviation authorities late last week. .
Abdul Sattar Khokhar, Spokesman for Pakistan's Aviation Division confirmed that (at the time) some 262 pilots were identified as possessing fake licenses by a Board of Inquiry and grounded immediately. So far; 28 of those under investigation have had their certificates cancelled.
Yet another 93 pilots are being investigated while the remaining 141 cases are under initial investigation and may be concluded within a week or so.
Khokhar reported that the laborious process of examining and determining these credentials -- along with potential disciplinary procedures -- continue to be closely monitored and supervised by Pakistan's Minister for Aviation, Ghulam Sarwar Khan (pictured).
One operator, Serene Air, was reported to have stopped compensating all the pilots in it's employ that have been busted for fake credentials... though the suspect pilots had been promised payment only until questions were resolved concerning their legality and certification.
Sources in the Pakistani aviation community indicate that the current numbers are expected to grow as the investigation continues.
