Several Injured By Helicopter Rotorwash At Boy Scout Event

Arriving Helo Blew Several Canoes Into A Crowd On Shore

It was supposed to be the celebration of the introduction of a new program to introduce young kids to the Boy Scouts. It wound up sending several people to the hospital.

According to a report from television station KWTV, a Black Hawk helicopter owned by Roger Hardesty of the Michelle and Roger Hardesty Foundation was bringing Roger and Michelle Hardesty to an event held by the Indian Nations Council of the Boy Scouts of America in Tulsa Saturday. But as the helo was landing, it swamped several canoes that were in the water, and others were blown into the crowd that was waiting for the pair, and other VIPs, to arrive.

A nurse said four adults and one child were transported to a local hospital for treatment of injuries sustained as a result of the incident.

According to a news release from the Council, the event was to launch the Lion Program, a program for kindergarten-age boys sponsored by the Michelle and Roger Hardesty Foundation. The program will expand the age a boy can join to be a Scout. This program weaves traditional Scouting concepts into activities for kindergarten-aged boys and their families. This program will open the doors to thousands of new youth throughout eastern Oklahoma.

Roger Hardesty is the founder and CEO of United States Aviation Co.
