Boeing Reportedly Eyeing Atlanta Sites For Research Center

Would Likely Be Somewhere Near The Georgia Tech Campus

Boeing is said to be looking at sites in Midtown Atlanta to place a research center, with the most likely location near the Georgia Tech campus.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports that Boeing would join a number of other Fortune 500 companies that are locating research facilities near the campus. Some of those companies include AT&T, NCR, and Worldpay.

The paper cites sources "with knowledge of the situation" who said Boeing has held discussions with Georgia Tech, and those talks are continuing. Boeing acknowledged those discussions in a statement, but said "we don't have anything of substance to announce at this time."

Georgia Governor Nathan Deal had pitched the planemaker to build the 777X in the state, but that work stayed in Washington State.

The state says there are currently some 500 aerospace companies with a presence in Georgia, including Gulfstream and Lockheed Martin.
