Carla Larsh, EAA Ultralight Council Chairperson
All
eight members of the EAA Ultralight Council gathered at EAA
Headquarters in Oshkosh (WI) last week, to review EAA's current
ultralight programs and services, plan for EAA AirVenture Oshkosh
2003, and discuss issues related to the new sport pilot and
light-sport aircraft rules and their effect on the ultralight and
light-plane community.
Just before the meeting, Carla Larsh was appointed chairperson
of EAA's Ultralight Council, succeeding former chairman Jamie
Kee.
Larsh, who operated Larsh Air Park near Colfax
(IA), with her late husband, Phil Larsh, has been active member of
the Ultralight Council since Phil's passing in 2000. She has been
an EAA member since the early 1980s and a member of EAA Chapter 256
and EAA Ultralight Chapter 81. Phil had been a member of the
Ultralight Council since its inception in 1991.
Carla was a co-founder of the Airpark Owners and Operators
Association and served on that board for eight years. She also
serves as the Volunteer Coordinator and chairs the pilot
registration program in the Ultralight/Light Plane area at
AirVenture each year, and she is co-chairperson of the Ultralight
Headquarters in Paradise City at the Sun 'n Fun EAA Fly-in.
As chairperson, Carla says, "My main focus will be on ultralight
and sport pilot issues-assuring a smooth transition process for
ultralight pilots who wish to become sport pilots-while also
continuing to represent the interests of those who enjoy true
ultralight flying."
