Signs On For Second Year Of Sponsorship
Able Flight announced Cessna Aircraft Company recently signed on
for its second year of sponsorship, and increased its support
allowing it to become one of Able Flight’s major
sponsors.
"In their decision to not only continue their support of our
scholarship fund, but to do so as one of our Platinum Level
sponsors, Cessna has made a powerful commitment to our mission of
using aviation to transform the lives of people with disabilities,"
said Able Flight Executive Director Charles Stites. "From the
beginning of Able Flight, they have recognized the positive impact
that flight training can have on the lives of inspiring people who
meet the challenge of learning to fly."
Able Flight has awarded 12 scholarships in the 13 months since
announcing its first scholarship, and plans to award up to 15
additional scholarships during 2008. Flight training is ongoing at
three flight schools, with a fourth soon to be added. By July of
2008, Able Flight estimates that as many as ten scholarship winners
will have completed training.
Able Flight's mission is to offer people with disabilities a
unique way to challenge themselves through flight training, and by
doing so, to gain greater self-confidence and self-reliance.
Able Fight is a national program, and the only one of its kind
in the United States. The program awarded its first two
scholarships December 19, 2006. In April 2007, the group awarded
two scholarships to wounded veterans; it plans to award up to
one-third of all scholarships to wounded veterans.
