Aero-Linx!
Scouring the information super airways can sometimes be a tough, if educational, task for the Aero-News staff... but it also allows us to check out some truly neat and exciting sites, so it's not that bad a gig. On any given day, we may check dozens (and often hundreds) of different sources for story ideas, and facts confirmation. And, as is the nature of our business, much of this is done on the Internet.
The ANN gang decided we probably shouldn't keep some of the neat sites, info resources, and organizations we've discovered to ourselves... so we decided to bring you Aero-Linx. These are the sites that WE check out -- when we need added perspective, a new spin on a day's topic... or just want to escape into cyber-aero-space for awhile.
Look for some of our favorite sites, coming each day to ANN via Aero-Linx. Suggestions for future Aero-Linx segments are always welcome, as well.
Aero Linx: Silver Wings Fraternity
If you have a genuine interest in aviation and are over the age of 18, you are eligible to join. We have no political agenda and are open to everyone regardless of race, creed, color or national origin. We enjoy both hangar flying and actual flying, and we encourage young people to consider Aviation as a career choice. All Silver Wings Fraternity members are eligible to wear our symbolic Silver Wings Design lapel pin. If you soloed a powered aircraft of any make or model you are eligible to wear the classic Blue Wings lapel pin. Once you reach the 25 year mark since your first solo you will be eligible to wear a lapel pin with a star on the top signifying this aviation milestone. If you soloed a powered aircraft more than 50 years ago you are eligible to wear a lapel pin with a star and a wreath. We were initially incorporated in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania in 1958. Russell Brinkley and several other veteran pilots saw the need for a Fraternal and Charitable Not-for-Profit
Organization of men and women who live and fly worldwide, whether active or retired.
