August 19th Is Our Day! National Aviation Day

Don't Miss A Chance To Promote Aviation Today

Stephen K. Brown, an FAASTeam Program (or Flight Proficiency) Manager, sent us a note over the weekend that we thought worth sharing...

"August 19th is National Aviation Day, which is (today).

This year will be the 80th year of the national day in recognition of Orville Wright's birthday and a day to celebrate all things aviation. It is in Part 36 of the United States Code and is a day to encourage activates by citizens to promote interest in aviation.

So please, on Monday, and for many days to follow in our lifetime, take the time do a little something to promote, educate and improve aviation. Take the time by introducing someone to aviation by taking a flight or reach out to a local school or youth group to learn about aircraft maintenance. It is also the perfect day to promote yourself within aviation, so please take the time to improve yourself as a pilot or technician. Take the time to learn by taking a small online course/webinar, order a book or video to learn more and improve your safety and knowledge.

There are many courses on FAASAFETY.GOV and available through various aviation organizations.

If you work in the aviation profession, this is the perfect day to look back. Remember a mentor that helped you get started in this fine industry. If they are still with us, reach out to them and thank them. If they are not, take the time to remember them, then think of what you can do to be mentor to the next generation."
