Urgent CASA AD: Dornier

Applicability: Do 228-100, -101, -200, -201, -202 and -212 aeroplanes.
Requirement: 1. Inspect the overhead panel 5VE and 6VE for chafing of the wiring and correct installation of the ty-rap holders in accordance with RUAG Services GmbH All Operator Telefax AOT-228-24-028 dated 9 November 2005.
2. If, as a result of the Requirement 1 inspection, discrepancies are found with the wiring or installation of the ty-rap holders, carry out any necessary modifications in accordance with the AOT.

Note 1: The following Time Limits/Maintenance Checks Manual(TLMCM) and
Aircraft Maintenance Manual (AMM) Temporary Revisions (T/R) also refer:
TLMCM 05-05
AMM 39-2, 39-3, 39-4, 39-5

Note 2: LBA AD D-2005-438 (EASA Approval 2005-6430) refers.

Compliance: For Requirement 1 - Within twenty eight days after the effective date of this Directive and thereafter at twelve month intervals.
For Requirement 2 - Before further flight after the Requirement 1 inspection.

This Airworthiness Directive becomes effective on 19 December 2005.

Background: The German Luftfahrt-Bundesamt has advised that, due to vibration and a loss of adhesive on ty-rap wiring holders above the overhead panels 5VE and 6VE wiring may chafe against switches in the panels. This Directive requires the wiring to be inspected for chafing and ty-rap holder for correct installation and, if necessary, the correction of any discrepancies.
