AmSafe Awarded A350XWB Cargo Equipment Contract

Will Provide Cargo Hold Nets On Upcoming Widebody

AmSafe, Inc. told ANN Wednesday its AmSafe Bridport business unit has been awarded the contract to provide cargo hold nets for the new Airbus A350XWB airliner. This contract will continue for the entire life of the program, and will remain valid as long as the A350XWB is in operation. AmSafe Bridport will provide a full package of design, manufacture and aftermarket services for the new aircraft family due to enter service in 2013.

This new contract follows existing programs for all Airbus aircraft, including the A380 superjumbo and A400M military transport, for which AmSafe exclusively designs and manufactures barrier and cargo nets and other related equipment. Initial design work has already begun at AmSafe's Bridport, UK facility. The AmSafe engineering team has been tasked to incorporate some of its reduced weight technology to meet the aircraft's requirement for fuel efficiency.

"Our engineering strengths and design capabilities have allowed us to offer a product that meets the stringent requirements of this new extra-wide body aircraft," said Robert McIlwraith, executive vice president of AmSafe and Managing Director of AmSafe Bridport. "This agreement represents another important milestone for AmSafe and reinforces our position as the leading supplier of air cargo restraint products to the world's leading aircraft manufacturers and airlines."

Stressing the importance of its partnership with AmSafe, Klaus Humpert, vice president of equipment and procurement for Airbus praised the ongoing efforts of AmSafe Bridport and stated that he looks forward to excellence throughout the entire development and life of the program.
