New sUAS Website Now Available For Hobbyists

AMA Completes sUAS Website To Assist sUAS Hobbyists With Learning To Fly And Operate Safely

The Academy of Model Aeronautics (AMA) is making a new resource available to all sUAS users.  If you’ve recently purchased a drone, this website will help you understand WHAT to Know Before You Fly.

“The AMA’s sUAS program website is an important tool for keeping our fun and educational hobby safe for everyone,” said Bill Pritchett, AMA’s education director.  “We will share up-to-date information as the AMA,in agreement with the FAA, continues to establish appropriate safety guidelines for emergent technologies, like drones, and novel facets of aero-modeling activity. In order to promote safety, all this information is available to the general public for free on our website.”

This new resource will help everyone:

  • Learn how and where to safely operate a drone
  • View a detailed map of the United States showing thousands of flying locations (including AMA clubs)
  • Make FAA registration easier, and
  • Share your own drone zone stories and experiences.
