Aero-TV: The Highly Capable PMA450 -- PS Engineering’s Very Smart Audio Panel

Aviation's Most Innovative Audio Panel Manufacturer Shows GA, 'What's (Really) New'

ANN CEO and Editor-In-Chief, Jim Campbell, attended the last AOPA regional Fly-in event of 2014, and he had the chance to meet up with the president of PS Engineering, Mark Scheuer.

Jim asked the leading question of, “what’s new.” Scheuer responded that they are proud of a new product they call the PMA 450 IntelliAudio system.

You need to watch the video to really understand what IntelliAudio® can do for the pilot, but the brief description is that it allows a pilot to have multiple audios in a stereo headset that allows the selection of an audio that the pilot wants to be dominant or in the background (What?).

Scheuer made a comment that will resonate with almost all pilots. He says the system is so simple to operate that you can do it without reading the manual. The caveat to the simplicity is that you must be able to read English.

Another neat function provided by this unit is the installation of a USB port for charging personal electronic devices. Because it’s an audio selector panel, it can also answer the phone, and it displays caller ID when it does it.

The video follows Scheuer as he selects the different functions and explains how the system works. You may want to watch this video twice just to make sure you see all the neat details.
