Wounded Iraq War Vets Ride For Free To Wounded Warrior
Event
Angel Flight West will fly 15
wounded warriors, and their significant others, to a five-day
reunion in Pagosa Springs Colorado beginning June 1. The event,
hosted by the Pagosa Springs Chamber of Commerce in partnership
with Wounded Warrior Project, brings together soldiers severely
injured in Iraq for activities such as horse-back riding, fishing,
spa days, fine dining and more.
"AFW is committed to supporting other non profits such as Wounded
Warrior Project," said Alan M. Dias, Executive Director of AFW. "We
are honored to assist these heroes and their families, and we
welcome the opportunity to partner with other non profits
contributing to similar missions." There will also be a special
recognition event held on June 1 for the service members of
WWP.
Wounded Warrior Project is a non-profit organization whose
mission is to honor and empower wounded soldiers. The organization
works to raise awareness, and enlist the public's help for the
needs of severely injured service men and women. They also help
severely injured service members aid and assist each other.
Angel Flight West is the country's largest volunteer pilot
organization arranging and providing free air transportation for
non-emergency health care. Through the efforts of volunteer private
pilots and commercial airline partners, they help to see that
American Heroes and others in need of critical medical care can get
to the help they need. AFW is a member of The Air Care Alliance, a
nationwide network of humanitarian flying organizations providing
similar services coast to coast.
