Atlantic Aviation Set for Distribution at KASE, KMTJ, KHDN, and KRIL
Avfuel and Atlantic Aviation have built on their existing sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) agreement to provide inventory at a handful of Colorado facilities.

The duo has been stocking Neste's MY SAF fuel product at Atlantic’s Aspen facility (KASE) since the spring of 2021, and the recent addition will expand that supply to Atlantic’s Montrose (KMTJ), Hayden/Steamboat (KHDN) and Aspen/Rifle (KRIL) FBOs.
Neste - not to be confused with the cookie manufacturer Nestlé - says its MY SAF boasts one of the highest average blend ratios available in business aviation, about 30:70 SAF to petroleum jet fuel. Each truckload reduces carbon emissions by 19 metric tons across its lifecycle, about the same amount of carbon taken up by 22.5 acres of forest in a year. That carbon friendliness allows overall greenhouse gas emissions reductions up to 80% compared to virgin petroleum, all from renewable waste and residues. Turning used cooking oil into jet fuel is a great way to minimize waste of otherwise useless feedstocks, and the resultant SAF still meets ASTM D-1655 specs for conventional jet fuel under all operating conditions. Neste's offering allows FBOs to stock MY SAF without any modification, change, or investments to its fuel distribution and storage infrastructure.
“Sustainability is so much more than a buzzword to us,” said Brian Corbett, chief commercial and sustainability officer for Atlantic Aviation. “We view SAF as the most viable and impactful step toward enabling a greener future for our industry, and are committed to supporting customer sustainability goals accordingly. Striving to reduce our impact on the environment is a promise we’ve made to our customers, our staff and the communities we serve …. We know environmental sustainability is vitally important in our mountains.”
Keith Sawyer, Avfuel’s manager of alternative fuels, was understandably excited about the expanded partnership. “We could not be more proud to expand SAF’s availability through this partnership with Atlantic Aviation; furthermore, we’re incredibly appreciative of its team, which has worked tirelessly to further sustainability initiatives. Together, we can support cleaner aviation for a brighter future.”
