Navy F-18s, Marine Harrier To Perform At Golden West Regional Fly-in

Bring It On!

Things are about to get a little louder around Marysville, CA... but we doubt many will mind. Vistors to the 2008 edition of the Golden West Regional Fly-in and Airshow, which will run June 6-8 at Yuba County Airport (MYV), will experience the sights and sounds of the Navy's newest strike fighter, the Grumman F/A-18 "Super Hornet," as performed by the Navy demonstration team based at Naval Air Station Lemoore, CA.

Also headlining the show will be the perennially crowd-pleasing AV-8B Harrier "jump jet," from the Marine Aircraft Group 13, 3D Marine Aircraft Wing. The Harrier is noteworthy for its ability to hover like a helicopter as well as perform as a conventional fighter, and the audience will see it put through its complete paces.

Both military teams will perform all three days of the show.

"This year's Golden West will have something for everyone interested aviation, from aerobatics, through antiques through hands-on activities for children," said Golden West president John Gibson. "People wanting to see and hear military planes being put through their paces certainly won't be disappointed."

In addition to the airshow each day, The Golden West Regional Fly-in will feature forums and workshops, a "Kid Qwest" hangar, and EAA Young Eagles flights for children 8-17. The Golden West Aero Mall will have exhibits by manufacturers of the latest aircraft, avionics and pilot supplies.
