Score One For Air Marshals

Released Inmate Stopped From Storming Cockpit

After a warning from prison officials in Washington state, several air marshals (shown training, right) Thursday stopped a released inmate as he reportedly tried to storm the cockpit. The marshals were aboard NWA Flight 924 bound from Honolulu to Seattle. The 29-year old suspect, whose identity is being withheld pending arraignment, got up two-and-a-half hours into the flight and bumped into an elderly female passenger. Witnesses say he shouted, "Where's my shirt?" and then rushed toward the cockpit demanding to see the captain.

But he never made it there. Instead, a federal air marshal stepped into the aisle, identified himself and told the 5'11, 215-pound man to put his hands behind his head. The man refused. That's when the two other marshals on the flight stood up. After a brief fight, they were able to subdue the suspect. He spent the rest of the flight in handcuffs. He'll be arraigned on charges of interfering with a flight crew.
