Lou Mancuso Extols The Virtues of Cramming a Rotax 915iS Into The Bristell LSA

Back in the early days of aviation, it became evident that there was rarely an airframe that wouldn’t benefit from more power... and the two-seat, side by side, Bristell LSA is no exception. After building a heck of a rep with the smaller Rotaxes, Bristell’s design team not only fitted a 915iS to the best... but they did so while still keeping it eligible for flight as a Light-Sport Aircraft.

Bristell’s Lou Mancuso (who unabashedly goes by the name of the ‘Landing Doctor’) is (to say the least) an enthusiastic fan of the program and takes the time to explain the engine installation, in detail. As a matter of fact, it's one of the better operational descriptions of the 915iS installation we’ve seen, to date. Interestingly, close-up details are made easier to view with the use of a little GoPro that allows us to get well inside the installation to capture some exceptionally fine detail of what’s REALLY under that cowl.

Mancuso and his troops distribute the Bristell line in the USA and also offer flight instruction and maintenance at locations in Pennsylvania and Florida.
