Sportys Debuts $1595 Electric Backup AI!

Count on Sportys' Uncle Hal to keep shaking things up at AEA 2005! Hal notes that while pilots train to fly needle, ball and airspeed, doing so in an emergency is a very different matter. That's why Sporty's is offering a backup electric attitude indicator with inclinometer for the (very) low price of $1595.

A recent FAA Advisory Circular (AC 91-75) allows and encourages the installation of a backup attitude indicator in place of the turn coordinator. In the FAA's words, "Substituting a second attitude indicator (with a power source independent from the primary attitude indicator) for the rate-of-turn indicator will provide an increased level of safety."

Made in the United States by Castleberry Instruments, Sporty's Electric Attitude Indicator weighs less than four pounds, fits in a standard 3-1/8" opening and is easy to install. It has no plastic moving parts and is backlit for total redundancy. For less than the cost of a hand-held GPS, you can have a brand new, TSO'd electric attitude indicator with inclinometer and an industry-leading 2-year warranty.

Not only is this a backup for your vacuum system, it is a backup for your primary attitude indicator itself. "This product is the culmination of 14 years of work by Sporty's. We believe in it so strongly that we're installing one in all eleven of our IFR airplanes," says Founder/Chairman Hal Shevers.

The Electric Attitude Indicator [#2060A] is available in either 14v or 28v for $1595.
