Horizon Air Selects XM WX Satellite Weather Service

XM WX Satellite Weather graphical weather service has been selected by Horizon Air as the in-flight weather datalink service to its current fleet of 68 aircraft as well as future deliveries. XM WX Satellite Weather will be incorporated into Horizon Air's new Electronic Flight Bag Communication and Data Management System, an electronic information management device that helps flight crews perform flight management tasks more easily and efficiently.

Horizon's fleet of Bombardier Q400, Bombardier CRJ700, and Bombardier Q200 aircraft will be outfitted with Class 2 Electronic Flight Bags in the flight deck and the cabin from leading aviation solutions provider Flight Deck Resources. Installation will begin in Q4 2006 with a rapid deployment to be completed in the first half of 2007.

XM WX Satellite Weather, the leading provider of cockpit weather information to commercial and general aviation, provides pilots with an unrivaled assortment of high-resolution graphical weather products like Radar, Freezing Levels, Echo Tops, Satellite Mosaic, and Lightning directly to the cockpit. XM's powerful satellites provide signal transmission over an S-Band wavelength, making it possible to provide pilots with weather information regardless of harsh weather conditions. The XM WX Satellite Weather system is there for pilots when they need it most, in the cockpit and at any altitude.

"We are pleased Horizon and Flight Deck have recognized the value of XM WX Satellite Weather service in the cockpit," said Roderick MacKenzie, XM Satellite Radio's Vice President of Advanced Applications and Services. "With the addition of Horizon to our growing list of aviation partners, XM WX continues to demonstrate its strength in the marketplace."

"Horizon investigated several satellite weather providers before selecting XM WX Satellite Weather," said Doug Litzinger, CRJ 700 Technical Pilot for Horizon Air.
"XM WX provides an unparalleled number of interactive weather solutions directly to the cockpit through the electronic flight bag. Our flight crews have found the interface to be intuitive and easy to use."
