Lake Aircraft Assets To Be Auctioned At Oshkosh

If you thought that there weren't enough interesting events at Oshkosh this year (HA! Fat Chance of that...--E-I-C), we have one more unique opportunity for you... the chance to become a GA manufacturer virtually overnight... if ya got the bucks.

The Lake Aircraft line of amphibious airplanes is undertaking a public auction to find a new owner for its Lake Amphibian production line. This comprehensive sale will include the FAA Type Certificate & associated STCs, engineering data, all documentation, historical information, fleet support inventory, and manufacturing capacity. The auction is scheduled to take place at 4:30pm, July 27th, on the AirVenture grounds in the Vette Theatre - Oshkosh, WI!

Only at Oshkosh!

The Board Members of Revo, Inc., owner of United States FAA Type Certificate Number 1A13 and manufacturer of the “Lake Amphibian” series of aircraft, have selected Higgenbotham Auctioneers International of Lakeland, FL to market and sell all assets associated with production and support of their airplane(s). The assets of the company will be sold as a whole, including, but not limited to, the Type Certificate & STCs, engineering & marketing data, tooling, fixtures, and component inventory. Key personnel and production employees have expressed a desire to remain with the new owners in order to ensure that they be able to operate immediately as a fully functional aircraft manufacturer. The Lake Amphibian series is the only FAA certified single-engine amphibious aircraft in production in the world.

The Lake Amphibian series of aircraft was the brainchild of Herb Linblad and Dave Thurston, both flying boat engineers of the great Grumman and Republic Aircraft companies. After designing and building the infamous flying boats of Grumman & Republic, Thurston & Linblad pooled their talent to develop the Colonial Skimmer Model C-1. Through the years of production in Sanford, Maine, the Skimmer grew from a two place, 125hp airplane first flown in 1948 (FAA certified in 1955) to the 200hp Buccaneer. The current owners bought their first Lake Amphibian, an LA-4-200, in 1970. They became involved in the company in 1971, and over the next three decades bought the company and subsequently introduced and certified the 6-place, 250hp Renegade, the 270hp SeaFury, and the Master of the Fleet, the 290hp special use SeaWolf.

This auction is scheduled to take place during AirVenture 2005 at 4:30pm July 27 in the Vette Theatre (adjacent to the EAA Museum) in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. AirVenture 2005, the annual EAA Convention, is the largest airshow/fly-in in the United States, and the second largest aviation event in the world. It has been the host of many “firsts” in aviation. Be there at 4:30pm July 27th to participate in another significant first in EAA history and in General Aviation.
