Stuart, FL Air Show May Get Military Acts In 2014

Organizers Are Waiting To Hear About Appearances By Marine Osprey, Harrier

The Stuart (FL) air show for 2014 is 11 months away, but organizers say they should know in a couple of weeks if there will be military aircraft participating in the event.

The online news site TCPalm reports that the show's organizers have applied for one of a reported 16 slots available from the U.S. Marine Corps for appearances by an MV-22 Osprey and an AV-8B Harrier at civilian air shows. "The competition is fierce," said air show vice president Don McGlynn.

McGlynn said they have also requested an appearance from a USAF F-22 Raptor, but that decision won't be made until mid-February.

McGlynn said that smaller air shows like Stuart that can't support jet teams like the Thunderbirds or Blue Angels get preference for other military acts.
