Tecnam P2008JC Equipped with Garmin G3X Receives EASA Approval

Panel Meets Night CS-VLA Standards

Tecnam's P2008JC equipped with Garmin's G3X has received EASA certification for CS-VLA day and night VFR operation. The G3X is the first non-TSO authorized electronic flight display to support CS-VLA night certification, which requires additional scrutiny over standard CS-VLA VFR day certification standards.

The Tecnam P2008JC is a type certified CS-VLA aircraft, which offers seating for two. The certification of the G3X in the P2008JC offers pilots cutting-edge avionics and features a seven-inch dual screen layout that utilizes a bright sunlight readable high-resolution screen. The dual screen G3X offers both PFD and MFD functionality with attitude and directional guidance along with electronic engine gauges and terrain/obstacle alerting. The EIS display allows engine, fuel, and systems data to be monitored on the G3X display.

Accompanying the dual G3X display are both the GNC 255 NAV/COM radio and GTX 328 transponder. The GNC 255 offers both 25 kHz and 8.33 kHz operational capabilities; ensuring operators are well equipped for the Single European Sky (SES) initiative. Further reducing pilot workload, the integration of the GNC 255 and G3X allows pilots to easily transfer frequencies between both systems. The GTX 328 also complies with the Mode-S Elementary Surveillance (ELS) mandate in Europe.

With this new Tecnam certification, Garmin says it brings the G3X’s cost effective, robust, and leading edge capabilities to select type-certificated aircraft as well as experimental and light sport aircraft.
