Goal For The Campaign Is $5,000
A GoFundMe campaign has been established to help support the race team of Marie-Claire Laberge for competition in the 2018 Reno Air Races.
According to the campaign page, which was established by Marie-Claire's husband: "This will be Marie-Claire's first year competing in the race and she is currently the only female set to race in the biplane class. The biplane class is an entry level class at the air races and is the class that is the closest to Marie-Claire's heart because she loves biplanes.
"Marie-Claire Laberge is my wife. She grew up around aviation as her late father, Phillip Laberge, was a fighter pilot in Vietnam and a career long airline pilot. Phillip began teaching her how to fly early in life and she never stopped looking upward. Becoming a mother to a special needs child prevented her from pursuing this dream in the normal progression that most pilots enjoy.
"Marie-Claire will be on the dawn of her 40th birthday at the Reno Air Races showing her mostly male counterparts that gender, motherly duties, and age can't stop you from achieving your dreams. We, as a family, are eager to support her through this venture as she has always sacrificed herself for her family above all else.
"Funds raised will go toward the race entry fees, operating expenses during training and racing, aircraft maintenance, and for Pilot Rookie School tuition which is a mandatory class that takes place in June."
