In a first-of-a-kind partnership between the Cavanaugh Flight Museum and the City of Addison (TX), as many as 1000 people are expected to attend this weekend's Pearl Harbor remembrance at Addison Field. 

The event kicks off at 8:00 AM Saturday morning with a pancake breakfast, followed by static and flying exhibits involving dozens of warbirds. Among them will be two authentic Japanese Zeros, the museum's newly acquired F4U-1D Corsair, a P-40 Tomahawk and a 1945 vintage FM-2 Wildcat.

The Cavanaugh Museum is home to 37 aircraft, ranging in vintage from WW I to the Vietnam War. Museum Director Doug Jeanes said all but three are in flying condition. The event comes as Cavenaugh plans to expand its current 45,000 sq. ft. facility to encompass more than 100,000 sq. ft.

"Right now our biggest draw is Memorial Day," said Assisstant Director Kevin Raulie. "We usually get about 2500 people over the entire weekend. We're hoping December 7th will become our second-biggest draw."

Jeanes said Cavanaugh is working ever-closer with the city of Addison to come up with new and different ways to promote mutual interests. "We're working to become part of the town's arts district," he said.

Saturday's highlights include Pearl Harbor survivor Paul Ferguson and Charlie Bond, one of the original Flying Tigers who fought in China before America's official entry into the Second World War.
