Sullenberger Movie On The Hollywood Radar

Clint Eastwood Slated To Direct The 'Miracle On The Hudson' Captain's Life Story

Clint Eastwood has announced his next movie project, and it's one that will tackle a story for which we all know that outcome, and will probably go see anyway.

Eastwood will direct a movie based on the life of Capt. Chesley "Sully" Sullenberger, the pilot who famously ditched a US Airways Airbus A320 in the Hudson River after a bird strike in January 2009. Not a single life was lost when the airplane went down in the river.

Yahoo News reports that Sullenberger said in a statement that he was pleased that Eastwood would direct the film. “I am very glad my story is in the hands of gifted storyteller and filmmaker Clint Eastwood, and veteran producers Allyn Stewart and Frank Marshall. The project could not have found a better home than Warner Bros. Pictures. This is truly a dream team,“ Sullenberger said in a statement.

Eastwood will also produce the movie through his company Malpaso Productions.

The movie is being adapted from Sullenberger's memoir "Highest Duty: My Search for What Really Matters", which he co-wrote with Jeffrey Zaslow. Zaslow was fatally injured in an automobile accident in 2012.
