Falcon 900B Receives Universal Avionics Flight Deck Upgrade

Affordable 'Total Package' Solution Offers Dependable, High-Res Glass Displays and Extends Aircraft Lifetime

Universal Avionics is supplying Authorized Dealer, Gestair MRO, with its EFI-890R Advanced Flight Display to be installed in five Falcon 900B aircraft. The program, now underway in Madrid, Spain, upgrades each aircraft to a modern five-display configuration and also includes the installation of UA's dual UNS-1Fw SBAS-Flight Management System (FMS) with 5-inch Control Display Units, Engine Interface Unit (EIU), UniLink UL-801 Communications Management Unit (CMU), Solid-State Data Transfer Unit, and dual Radio Control Units for a 'total package' solution.

"The Falcon 900B flight deck modernization effort with Gestair MRO is an affordable solution that replaces legacy avionics instruments," said Robert Clare, UA Director of Business Aviation and OEM Sales. "With new, reliable avionics solutions, the operator can 'future-proof' the aircraft, taking advantage of the latest technologies such as Europe's Aeronautical Telecommunications Network Baseline 1 (ATN B1)," he added.

"We are delighted to offer a solution for avionics modernization that will comply with the current mandates of SESAR and ADS-B Out, allowing the service life of Falcon 900B aircraft to be extended," said Ricardo Tercero, Director of Gestair MRO. "We expect the Falcon 900B aircraft that are currently being upgraded to be the first of many others to come," he added. "Currently, we are investing in the update of infrastructures, with a capacity of 18,000 square meters (4.44 acres) of hangar space, and in equipment and solutions that allow us to position Gestair MRO as a clear reference in the aeronautical maintenance market."

The EFI-890R Advanced Flight Displays provide primary flight information normally associated with standard Attitude Director Indicator and Horizontal Situation Indicator presentations including altitude, flight guidance, and speed information. A centrally-located EFI-890R Multi-Function Display (MFD) interfaces with the EIU to present an all-digital engine indication system that replaces analog indicators and stores up to 100 hours of engine data. Each engine function is shown in an analog scale dial and digital readout, providing greater visual identification of important engine parameters.

The SBAS-FMS offers capabilities such as SBAS, LPV, ADS-B Out, and P-RNAV, and when paired with the UniLink UL-801 CMU, CPDLC, FANS 1/A+, and ATN B1.
