Jet Airways Orders 150 LEAP-1B Engines For 737 Airplanes

Purchase Doubles The CFM-Powered Fleet

Jet Airways has placed an order for 150 LEAP-1B engines to power 75 Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft. It is the largest order in the airlines history.

The airplane order was previously attributed to an unidentified customer and includes conversions of 25 Next-Generation 737s to 737 MAX 8s, which were also previously unidentified.

Jet Airways began operation in May 1993 with four CFM56-3-powered Classic Boeing 737. Today, the airline is one of the most respected in the world and the largest private carrier in India, operating a fleet of more than 70 CFM56-7B powered Next-Generation 737 aircraft.

“Jet Airways is an impressive airline,” said Jean-Paul Ebanga, president and CEO of CFM International. “We are excited to launch this new phase of our relationship with them and look forward to introducing all the benefits of our advanced LEAP engine into their fleet.”
