He Founded Frasca International in 1958
The news couldn't be sadder... a short note posted online said, simply, "It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our founder, Rudy Frasca. Rudy was an industry icon who founded Frasca International in 1958. He was a true aviation pioneer and avid pilot. He will be greatly missed. RIP Rudy. 1931- 2020"
Frasca, a legend in the flight training business also made his mark on a number of aviation disciplines, as did many of his family members, who helped to profoundly alter the aviation landscape in a very positive manner.
Frasca was founded in 1958 by Rudy, and Frasca International went on to promote and innovate in the flight training community for over 60 years where today, John Frasca, leads the mission. Rudy began taking flying lessons at the age of 14 and soloed shortly thereafter. But it was in 1949 that Rudy joined the Navy and was stationed at Glenview Naval Station, where he worked as a flight instructor teaching pilots on the early Link trainers, a mission that created a family empire.
Passionate about a number of aviation causes, including an amazing historic warbird aircraft collection, one of Frasca's many interests included the National Intercollegiate Flying Association, who noted they were. "...sad to learn of Rudy Frasca’s passing and extend our sincere condolences to his family and to all at Frasca International. Besides being a leader in flight simulation and flight training devices, Rudy Frasca was also a great friend to NIFA as one of our longest-serving supporters. He donated time, resources, and expertise over the course of decades to help us fulfill our mission, benefitting the safety and education of future aviators around the globe. We were honored to have his support. He will be greatly missed."
A family representative noted that funeral arrangements are still underway but that due to the pandemic, it was likely to be a limited family event. A public remembrance will be considered for a later date.
