Infamous Candy Bomber Nominated For Presidential Medal Of Freedom

Known Worldwide As The "Berlin Candy Bomber" or "Uncle Wiggly Wings"

Daedalian Colonel Gail S. “Hal” Halvorsen, also known as the Berlin Candy Bomber, recently celebrated his 100th birthday. Not only that, he has been nominated for the Presidential Medal of Freedom. A White House petition was started to bolster the case for Colonel Halvorsen to be awarded the medal.

Colonel Halvorsen is currently a retired officer and command pilot from the United States Air Force... but he is known worldwide as the "Berlin Candy Bomber" or "Uncle Wiggly Wings," having gained fame for dropping candy to German children during the Berlin Airlift from 1948 to 1949. He was inspired by children he met at the gates to the air base during the Berlin Airlift and secretly dropped candy from his aircraft for some time until the Airlift Command turned his gesture into an approved exercise and captured the world's attention... and gratitude.

The petition requires 100,000 signatures by November 22 for the White House to take action and address the petition. Please consider signing the petition to honor and award such an extraordinary individual. After signing the petition, you will receive an email confirmation asking you to verify your signature.

We encourage everyone to share the petition with friends, family and the like, to help us reach this goal.
