Mercedes-Benz, Airbus Collaborate on ACH145

Renew Design Partnership for Limited Luxury Helicopter

Airbus has launched another stylistic collaboration with classic Automaker Mercedes-Benz for a special edition of their ACH145 Helicopter, as revealed at the European Rotors show in Cologne that a facelift of the helicopter is on the way to court a more executive, premium clientele. The exclusive, named the Mercedes-Benz Style VIP H145, offers improved performance, increased flight safety, and improved exterior design over the base level EC145 on which the aircraft is based.

Like its mass-production sibling, the H145 is tailored for high-end, boardroom, corporate, operations. With an interior built designed and styled by Mercedes-Benz, upgraded with the accoutrements expected by their clientele. Frederic Lemos, Airbus Helicopters' Head of Private and Business Aviation Europe, said the cabin is “Inspired by the top-of-the-range vehicles of the brand with the star, the H145 Mercedes-Benz Style offers a redesigned cabin interior that includes in-flight Wi-Fi connectivity, an improved infotainment system and new seat design for increased ergonomic comfort." Mercedes-Benz, never one to break with tradition, offers direct style accommodations for clients looking for custom tailored outfitting not unlike their premium automotive offerings. “Customers wishing to further personalise their aircraft will be able to work directly with Airbus Helicopters and the creative design teams at Mercedes-Benz Style to define their unique cabin environment," said Lemos.

Customers can choose from 3 different "harmonies” (color palettes, to the unrefined eye) that offer a selection of wood floor or carpeting. Interior liners, lighting concepts, and seating combine to create a suitably welcoming atmosphere, with multi-purpose storage attachment points on the floors and walls should the aircraft be used for cargo transportation. A custom made, integrated cabinet system offers secure storage for items in flight, freeing up personal space within. While the interior has been made with particular layouts in mind, the H145 retains the modularity and arrangement flexibility of its type for a broad range of use, perfect for those operators who have a variety of mission profiles to complete. Airbus describes the aircraft as suitable for executive transportation, exploration tourism, family voyages, as well as leisure and sport trips. All seating, galley, and walls are mounted on rails for easy, quick reconfiguration from a layout suiting 4-8 passengers, along with cargo and large item carriage. Fitting for the clientele courted by the project, Airbus notes the suitability of the helicopter as an aerial tender for superyacht owners.
