Also: Aerobility, Universal Avionics SkyVis, Eurofighter Buy, CA Crazies V Airlines

Chesley Burnett "Sully" Sullenberger III, the pilot who safely landed a US Airways Airbus A320 on the Hudson River after the aircraft was damaged by multiple bird-strikes, is stepping down from his position as U.S. ambassador to the International Civil Aviation Organization.

Sullenberger was confirmed to the ICAO ambassadorship in December, 2021 and presented his credentials to ICAO Secretary General Juan Carlos Salazar Gómez in February, 2022. He gave no reason for stepping down from the post. Archer Aviation, the San Jose, CA-based designer of electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft, reports flight-tests of its Maker demonstrator aircraft are proceeding apace. Most recently, the test program saw the first use of the company’s Tilt Propeller System (TPS), which actively controls Maker in hover. To help owners of general aviation aircraft modernize their cockpits, the Aircraft Electronics Association will randomly award five aircraft owners with $1,000 toward an avionics upgrade during the Experimental Aircraft Association's AirVenture Oshkosh, July 25-31, in Wisconsin. All this -- and MORE in today's episode of Airborne!!!
