Drone Locates 'Miracle Dog' In Marsh Harbor

Had Been Trapped In Building Rubble For A Month Following Hurricane Dorian

A dog which had been trapped for a month after hurricane Dorian tore through the Bahamas was located by a dog rescue group using a drone.

The dog, which has been named "Miracle", was located under an air conditioner and building debris. It was described as "alive but emaciated" by Big Dog Ranch Rescue, which is based in Loxahatchee Groves in Palm Beach County, FL.

Big Dog Ranch Rescue founder and president Lauree Simmons told Miami television station WFOR that the group uses the latest technology to allow its teams to locate animals. "In this case, drones played a key role," she said.

Miracle was transported to the group's Florida base last Friday for lifesaving medical treatment and nourishment, according to the report.

The group says Miracle is the 138th dog to be saved in the Bahamas in the wake of Dorian. It is working with the Humane Society in the Bahamas to clear make shelter space available for the placement of more incoming animals.

Big Dog Ranch Rescue says it will continue its efforts to rescue dogs, and provide vital supplies to the Bahamas.
