The first F-15EX completed its initial flight in St. Louis Feb. 2. It was announced in August 2020 that the 173rd Fighter Wing will begin transitioning as the F-15EX formal training unit in 2024.

“Being selected as the F-15EX formal training unit is an outstanding mission for the 173rd Fighter Wing,” said Col. Jeff Edwards, 173rd FW commander. The French Ministry of Defense has announced a framework agreement to acquire four Daher TBM 940 very fast turboprop aircraft for use by the country’s flight test centers, along with associated services for the operation of these airplanes. Delivery of the TBM 940 fleet will begin in the summer of 2021, replacing TBM 700 versions that have been used since 1992 by the Flight Test division of the French Defense Ministry’s DGA (Direction générale de l’armement) procurement agency. The TBM’s duties include flight testing and safety support, as chase airplanes, in liaison flights, and for operations away from the primary test center locations. It must be QUITE the sight... (WA) together as part of the aerial effort to support emergency services and protect communities under threat of fire. Two 737 FireLiner's and a C-130 were working closely together laying lines of fire retardant that made a real difference to minimizing the danger and impact to communities under threat of fire.
