Patients Fly Higher, Faster And Safer In This 'Intensive Care Unit In The Sky'
Angel MedFlight says the newest addition to its fleet of jets – the Cessna Citation X – is flying worldwide for the transportation of patients. The company says the Citation X’s increased range and speed allows air ambulance medical transportation worldwide to destinations such as Hawaii, Africa, the Middle East and Asia, helping patients around the world receive the care they need at the hospital or medical facility of their choice. “Many times, when we transport a patient it is because they need immediate medical care at a facility that can help save their life,” said Jeremy T. Freer, CEO & President of Angel MedFlight. “This addition to our fleet is a game-changer for medical air ambulance transportation because it buys us more time - especially in emergency situations such as trauma or neonatal flights.”
The Angel MedFlight Citation X has been modified and enhanced to make it an innovator in the air ambulance category. The Citation X accommodates two LifePort systems allowing increased patient carrying capabilities, as well as a global satellite Wi-Fi system for internet capability, so medical information can be immediately transcribed to ensure air-to-ground communications between flight crews and ground teams. Additionally, the jet has been augmented with the Honeywell Epic display modification, which replaced a cathode ray tube (CRT)-based system. This new control display system translates into substantial reductions in weight, wire count and power when compared to previous avionics.
The company says that patient being transported in the Citation X spends less time in the air and more time at the receiving facility for necessary medical care. All the details are handled for a seamless transport from the sending facility to the receiving facility, and ultimately, less worry for the families and case managers of the patient.
