Advanced Imaging Suite Sees Improved Maintenance Capabilities for American Operators
Universal Avionics has begun offering repairs for the ClearVision EVS-5000 using its Part 145 approved facility in Tucson, AZ.
The development is a new one for the Elbit Systems subsidiary, adding multispectral cameras to the growing list of Universal Avionics projects supported from an American repair center. The ClearVision Enhanced Vision System was a major tackle for the Arizona facility, standing as one of the most sensitive, complex systems in the company's portfolio. Repairs for the first EVS-5000s sent in to the company are expected to start by year's end, with additional support on the way for similarly advanced equipment. Its 6 discrete sensor types allow for a high definition composite image, vital in providing robust, all-weather imaging throughout all flight conditions.
The ClearVision EVS is a key piece of the Universal Avionics ecosystem, combining its video output with synthetic 3D terrain to provide pilots an all-encompassing view of all that lies before them. Its expansive field of view and clear image grant pilots complete situational awareness in all weather conditions, day, night, during take-off, approach, and landing phases.
“ClearVision EVS-5000 is one of the most sophisticated electrical optical systems for commercial aviation of its time. Successful implementation of repair services paves the way to additional high-end technology work in our Tucson facilities,” said Steve Pagnucco, Vice President of Operations at Universal Avionics. “This project has showcased Universal Avionics’ ability to develop optical test equipment and transition complex technologies across a global corporation.”
