FAA Publishes Standard Curriculum for Gulfstream GV

New Training Standards Mark First for Part 135 Industry, with More to Come

The Federal Aviation Administration has published a first for an aircraft-specific training curriculum, releasing a standardized syllabus for the Gulfstream GV.

The change marks a jump forward for training standards among Part 135 operators, providing concrete standards that help to provide a trustworthy base of knowledge for a popular business jet. The National Air Transportation Association lauded the move, noting it was the "result of a tremendous multi-year effort from many industry stakeholders,"  bringing together the association itself, the FAA’s Air Carrier Training Aviation Rulemaking Committee Working Group, and a smattering of air charter operators and training centers. Next up, the same group will release standardized curricula for the Citation Excel and Hawker 800.

“The rollout of the standardized curriculum program is a significant opportunity for Part 135 operators,” said NATA Vice President of Regulatory Affairs Alan Stephens. "We encourage operators to implement the curricula as they are introduced and participate in the development of the standardized programs for additional aircraft as they are announced."

More detailed info on the changes may be found in the FAA Dynamic Regulatory System, as well as the FAA’s Standardized Curriculum resources page.
