USAF Shows Its Support For Inaugural OC Air Show

F-15, F-16 Demo Teams, Heritage Flight Program Added

The OC Air Show will bring thunder and lightning to the skies over Ocean City, MD June 10-11, as the F-15 Eagle and F-16 Viper soar high above the beach and boardwalk.

The US Air Force recently announced it will support the OC Air Show with the F-15 and F-16 demonstration teams and its Heritage Flight Program, featuring state-of-the-art fighters flying in close formation with World War II, Korean and Vietnam-era fighters such as the P-51 Mustang.  A vintage P-51 will participate in the Heritage Flight at the OC Air Show.

The F-15 Eagle and F-16 Viper demonstration teams will showcase the speed, agility and capability of these two aircraft, which make up the backbone of the US Air Force.

"We are grateful for the significant commitment that the US Air Force has made for our inaugural event," said Ocean City Mayor Rick Meehan. "These aircraft will add tremendously to the inspiration and excitement that the OC Air Show will bring to the skies over our town."

In addition, GEICO has committed to have the Skytypers perform at the OC Air Show. This demonstration team of six vintage World War II-era SNJ-2’s make only a few appearances at major air shows each year. The team will demonstrate low-level precision flying as well as deliver aerial messages, known as Skytyping, 10,000 feet high -- as tall as the Empire State Building and eight miles wide. The letters can be seen for 15 miles in any direction, or nearly 400 square miles.

As ANN has reported, the OC Air Show will feature military aircraft demonstrations, low-altitude flyovers and civilian aerobatic performances over the Ocean City beachfront from noon to 3 pm June 10-11. The US Army Golden Knights parachute team and US Jet civilian aerobatic team are also slated to perform at the event.

Organizers say the air show will be visible along the majority of the boardwalk, and will feature interactive displays and exhibits open to the public on the streets surrounding Show Center, to be located at 16th Street on the boardwalk.

The Town of Ocean City is co-sponsoring the OC Air Show with B. Lilley Inc., a firm specializing in the production and management of large-scale public events.
