Diamond Offers DA40 Owners Upgrade Route For Latest Garmin Wonders

Packages Add WAAS Capability, Synthetic Vision To G1000-Equipped Singles

Diamond Aircraft announced Friday the introduction of major avionics upgrades available to owners of G1000-equipped Diamond DA40s. Upgrades include electronic charts, WAAS capability, as well as Garmin's latest safety-enhancing functionality, Garmin Synthetic Vision Technology.

"At Diamond, we focus on safety, and on maintaining resale value of our aircraft for owners. We are excited that working with Garmin, we are yet again able to provide access to the latest avionics to our installed base, without making obsolete their investment," said Heike Larson, VP of Sales and Marketing at Diamond. "We are pleased that not only were we the first to offer Garmin's SVT certified on a new aircraft, but that we are also the first to make this major safety-enhancing technology available to our DA40 installed base."

In addition to a software-only upgrade, three complete upgrade packages are available: Garmin charts, WAAS basic or WAAS with coupled VNAV capability (for GFC700 equipped aircraft only.) Two add-on options -- SVT and ChartView -- can be added to each of the three upgrade packages. Owners who already have Charts or WAAS need not buy a full upgrade package, but instead can add SVT and ChartView through a special add-on kit.

Diamond customers with a G1000-equipped DA40 will receive a detailed letter explaining upgrade functionality, process and pricing over the next week. Kits will be available to ship by June 1, and can be ordered from Diamond directly by any Diamond Authorized Service Center.
