Appointed to Canadian Air Transport Security Authority
Canada's Transport Minister David Collenette has appointed Mr.
Clement Joly (FCA) to the board of directors of the Canadian Air
Transport Security Authority (CATSA).
"I am very pleased that
Mr. Joly has agreed to contribute his experience and perspectives
to CATSA," said Mr. Collenette. "With his many years of
accomplishment in business and finance, he will be a valuable voice
in the board's deliberations."
A Chartered Accountant, Mr. Joly joined the firm of Raymond
Chabot Grant Thornton in 1977, as an Associate and has been a
member of the board for 16 years. Over the years, he has audited
and advised a number of companies in wholesale and retail sales,
manufacturing and the hospitality sectors. He is Governor of the
Chambre de commerce de Laval, president of the Fondation
Armand-Frappier and former president of the Chambre de commerce du
Quebec. He has also been a participant on three Team Canada trade
missions.
The Government of Canada has appointed 11 members to the board
of directors of CATSA to represent the interests of all Canadians,
including industry and labour. Of these members, two have been
proposed by the airline industry and two by airport operators.
Based in the National Capital Region, CATSA is a crown
corporation that operates on a not-for-profit basis. The authority
is accountable to the Minister of Transport for the delivery of
consistent, effective, and highly professional service at or above
the standards set by federal regulations. Transport Canada will
continue to regulate and monitor the provision of security
services, with CATSA responsible for delivery.
