EFD-750 and Lightweight Data Recorder Bring Simple Flight Data Compliance Into Focus
L3Harris Technologies has announced widespread availability of their Cohesive ED-155 System, a comprehensive, off-the-shelf flight data recorder.
The system reaches into the L3Harris parts bin to assemble a ready-made combination of parts, combining the Lightweight Data Recorder and EFD-750 electronic flight display for a turnkey ED-155 compliant option. The company says it significantly reduces installation, maintenance service costs by eliminating the need to integrate, wire, test and connect a variety of systems to an ED-155 certified recorder. With EASA mandates looming in the near future, light aircraft operators would do well to skip all the hassle of assembling a piecemeal system on their own and get their aircraft back to mission status where it belongs.
“Aircraft and helicopters must be able to transmit required ED-155 parameters to a certified, lightweight flight recorder,” said Alan Crawford, President, L3Harris Commercial Aviation. “Our integrated solution simplifies installation using proven best-in-class products that enhance pilot safety, exceed recorder data parameter recommendations, and save manufacturers and operators time and expense.”
The EFD-750 acts as a back-up display to present airspeed, altitude, attitude and slip data as standard, with optional integration for heading and navigation. Pairing it with the L3Harris LDR provides crash-protected recording of audio, image and flight data. With the entire system ready to go, it’s as simple as that. All essential and recommended flight, inertial, air data and position parameters recommended by the International Civil Aviation Organization’s ED-155 specifications are now safely stored in the box for future reference. Easy access allows operators to quickly access and download images, video and data parameters using a web browser, providing actionable information for preventive maintenance, flight data management, operations quality assurance and safety risks during post-flight review.
