BBA Aviation ERO Companies Expand Services

Premier Turbines Creates Center Of Excellence, H+S Aviation Receives EASA Certification Of PT6T Test Cell

BBA Aviation Engine Repair and Overhaul (ERO) company Premier Turbines has established a Rolls-Royce Center of Excellence for its M250 Authorized Maintenance Repair and Overhaul Center (AMROC) in Neosho, Missouri, while another of its subsidiary companies, H+S Aviation, has been awarded EASA certification for its PT6T test cell.

BBA Aviation Center Of Excellence

In establishing the Center of Excellence, the company has completely reconfigured the facility a to 60,000 sq. ft. footprint incorporating lean operating techniques while increasing its output capabilities.

"We have reconfigured our M250 repair and overhaul facility to streamline the process and flow," stated BBA Aviation ERO President Hugh McElroy. "Premier Turbines is one of the world's leading Rolls-Royce authorized M250 service centers and this reconfiguration is designed to enhance its capabilities and speed the work flow. This change is especially timely as we have seen both our civil and military helicopter engine businesses grow over the past two years."

Premier Turbines offers repair and overhaul on both the M250 and its T63 military variant. The Neosho Center of Excellence provides a full range of services including repair and overhaul of engines, modules, accessories and components. The facility also includes a Rolls-Royce correlated test cell and is ISO 9001:2008 and ISO 14001:2004 certified.

H+S Aviation, meanwhile, received EASA certification for its PT6T test cell in January, 2011. H+S Aviation is authorized by Pratt & Whitney Canada as a Distributor and Designated Overhaul Facility (DDOF) for the PT6T Twin-Pac. The addition of EASA test cell approval means H+S Aviation is now fully equipped to perform repair and overhaul on site including engine testing.

PT6T Test Cell

"With the receipt of EASA certification we now have everything we need in-house for total repair and overhaul services on the PT6T," stated BBA Aviation ERO President Hugh McElroy. "We received our DDOF authorization in early 2010 and have completed more than a dozen engine modules during the year, plus the site's first full overhaul in December. Now with the test cell fully correlated and EASA certified we can offer complete service on site."

The PT6T engine testing system is located in H+S Aviation's Test Cell #5 which features a 3,000 shp hydraulic dynamometer, data acquisition system, acoustic intake and exhaust systems, instrumentation and air, fuel, water and oil systems.

In a related development, Dallas Airmotive has demonstrated live video streaming of a borescope inspection from the field to its F1RST SUPPORT center in Grapevine, Texas. Observing the video feed were Dallas Airmotive engineers and technicians who were able to evaluate the condition of the engine and make a judgment on next actions, in this case removal of engine for more detailed inspection. The video feed is another first for the high-tech center as it demonstrates the use of technology to speed the delivery of service to turbine engine operators.

F1RST SUPPORT was unveiled last year as a state-of-the-art global technical operations center that utilizes integrated satellite-based technologies to deliver ultra-fast and efficient response to AOG aircraft. First Support technology integrates a team of more than 100 field service representatives around the globe,  engine assets, service vehicles, and tooling with sophisticated scheduling and analytical tools to provide real-time solutions to operators.

"We're just beginning to tap the full potential of our First Support center," stated BBA Aviation ERO President Hugh McElroy. "The ability of staff in our command center to simultaneously view the image that a technician is seeing in the field gives us the ability to make quality decisions on the spot, and thereby help operators get back in service in the shortest possible time. That's really the essence of service and what we strive to provide our customers."
