Family Of Jeff Pino Says Memorial Service Will Be Private

Others Planning Public Remembrance Of Pilot Fatally Injured Last Week

The family of Jeff Pino, who was fatally injured last Friday when the P-51D "Big Beautiful Doll" he was piloting went down in Arizona, said that they will hold a private memorial service honoring the aviator.

A statement issued by the family and posted the BDN Aerospace Facebook page, the family said "While our hearts are broken, we are comforted by the outpouring of support from people who knew, loved and respected Jeff. He has touched so many lives in so many ways and, though he was taken from us too soon, we know that while he was here he made our world a much better place.
“We are planning a private family memorial service, and others are planning a public tribute to remember and celebrate his life. We will share more details when they become available.

"Many have inquired about how to honor Jeff’s memory. In keeping with his wishes, we have established the Jeff Pino Foundation, that will be dedicated to supporting Veterans, the Red Cross, EAA, the University of Arizona and other efforts that help, support and mentor young people who aspire to become pilots and pursue careers in aviation, aerospace, and Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM). This was one of Jeff’s dreams for the future and will be his most enduring legacy.”

The family is requesting that donations be made to the Jeff Pino Foundation in lieu of flowers.
Sympathy cards and checks can be mailed to:

A legend in aviation, Jeff Pino had a long and distinguished career, starting as a U.S. Army Aviator and culminating as President of Sikorsky Aircraft and then Vice Chairman of XTI Aircraft Company. "He was a visionary whose legacy is one of leadership and innovation…and a beloved son, brother and friend. He will be in our hearts forever," the family said in the statement.
