Sierra Industries Delivers First Re-Engined Citation

Williams-Powered Jet Is A Real Performer

After a year and a half of design, engineering and flight testing, Uvalde, TX-based Sierra Industries, Ltd. has announced the delivery of its first Sierra Super II, a modified Cessna Citation.

As approved by the Federal Aviation Administration earlier this year, Sierra Industries modifies Cessna S550 Citation S-IIs by removing the factory-installed Pratt & Whitney JT15D engines and replacing them with Williams International FJ44-3A engines.

Enabling substantial increases in the Citation's all-around performance, range and efficiency, the larger FADEC-controlled Williams engines boast 2,820 pounds of thrust each. Other benefits include lower fuel consumption, faster climb-to-altitude, and exhaust emissions are reduced by 27 percent.

With a backlog other Citation retrofits in the works, Sierra Industries has accumulated enough orders for the Super II to last well into next year, and is the only company certified to perform the modification.

No stranger to Citations, Sierra Industries has a history of maintenance and repair of the Cessna jets spanning almost 30 years, and is responsible for over 75 Citation modifications and products, according to the San Antonio Business Journal.
