Pilots Flying Integrated Glass Panel Systems Can Now Fully Complete The Digital Transformation Of Their Panels
The FAA has issued an STC to Aspen Avionics for installation of its Evolution Backup Display. It is a fully digital, independent primary flight display (PFD) designed to replace mechanical backup instruments and the associated vacuum system supporting those instruments in Part 23 electronic flight instrument system (EFIS) installations.
The Evolution Backup Display system has proven its utility with over four years of reliable service in new production Piper aircraft and is now available for installation through any authorized Aspen dealer. It is based on the company’s Evolution Flight Display system with over 11,000 installations since certification in 2008.
“If the primary cockpit EFIS system fails, transitioning to a glass backup display rather than a mechanical instrument will be much more intuitive and less stressful in emergency situations. Aspen’s backup display is redefining industry expectations for a robust, feature-rich, and reliable backup system that can be configured to include Aspen’s award-winning Angle of Attack (AOA) indicator, synthetic vision and ADS-B traffic and weather as optional functions,” said Perri Coyne, director of marketing operations.
The Evolution Backup Display comes standard with a large capacity emergency power source providing two hours of continuous operation.
The system is available in portrait orientation with basic or advanced configurations:
