Help Needed For WA Couple Injured At Reno

Non-Profit Established To Accept Donations, Project Planned This Weekend

A message posted in an EAA discussion forum indicates donations and volunteers are needed  to help a couple who were injured at the National Championship Air Races at Reno this year.

Larry and Tracy Cruz were injured when Jimmy Leeward's plane went down, and Larry is scheduled to be released from the hospital this weekend. The Family Assistance Fund is looking for donations of time and materials to help make some improvements on Larry and Tracy's house, particularly the bathroom. A photograph on theHangar Talk forum shows Larry's heavily-bandaged hands, and the facility needs to be made accessible for him to use. They are also looking for materials for a wheelchair ramp, and people with construction skills to make it all happen.

In an e-mail to Hal Bryan at EAA, Sandra More, who is coordinating the effort from Reno, said she is looking for a head count for the project on Saturday. Others who wish to make a donation can go to the Think Kindness website  to make a tax deductible donation. She says donations can also be made through her "Pit Lizards" website, but that they are not tax deductible.
