Tentative Contract Reached Between Bell Helicopter, UAW

Vote Set For This Weekend

Bell Helicopter and the United Auto Workers Local 218 (UAW) have reportedly reached a tentative agreement on a new contract that is subject to a ratification vote this weekend.

More than 2,500 machinists and other union workers are expected to cast ballots on the contract, according to a report in the Dallas Business Journal.

Details of the contract have not been released. The union rejected two previous proposal sent out for ratification. In August, 96.8 percent of the members casting ballots voted to reject a proposed contract. The labor troubles led to a one-day strike in September.

On its website, the union calls the ratification vote "too important to miss." The ratification meeting will begin "promptly at 10:30 (CDT) at the University of Texas in Arlington at the UTA Texas Hall.

The union says that "No late arrivals will be permitted. Members only! No spouses, family members or friends allowed inside building."
