Beluga To The Rescue

Super Transport On Mission Of Mercy To Algeria

An A300-600F Beluga Super-Transporter took off Friday, headed from Toulouse, France, on a mercy mission to deliver vital humanitarian aid to victims of the Algerian earthquake.

The aircraft, which is transporting the aid on behalf of the French Red Cross, will be making three separate aid trips to the Algerian capital Algiers, with the following two journeys due to be made during the next two weeks. It is delivering vital hygiene and medical supplies for the estimated 180,000 people who lost their homes in the earthquake in May.

In Algiers the aid will be received by members of the Algerian Red Cross as well as teams from Air Algerie, who will assist with the unloading of the cargo.

During a brief cargo-loading ceremony in the Beluga Hall in St. Martin, France, the Algerian consul in Toulouse, Kacimi El Hassani, thanked Airbus and its employees for their generosity and expressed “heartfelt gratitude” on behalf of the Algerian people.
