FAA Announces Instrument Checkride Webinar

Will Demonstrate A Mock Check-Ride Using A Local CFI As The Applicant

The FAA has announced a new webinar to assist pilots in passing an Instrument Rating Checkride emphasizing the new ACS language of risk management.

The webinar, being presented on Monday, December 9 at 1900 EST, will include and educational demonstration of a mock check-ride using a local CFI as the applicant.

Participants  will have the opportunity to review various parts of the ground portion and find ways to improve your (or your applicant’s) response. We will be using the new Instrument Rating Airman Certification Standards (ACS) issued in June, 2019. However, elements of this test will apply to all practical tests.

There will be a demonstration of the greatly expanded risk management language and scenario testing now applied to this test. We will give you insight into how things sometimes go wrong and how to prevent these problems. You and your applicants will benefit from firsthand knowledge of what the Designated Pilot Examiners are thinking when using their plans of action. There will be many useful tips to create a positive, comfortable test environment for you and your students.

Representatives of the FAA Safety Team will be on hand to offer their input and answer your questions, as well. The intent is to conduct a forum with a no-holds-barred, open discussion of questions you may have.

Vacancies are limited. Same day registration is based on availability.

WINGS credit is available for this program. If you wish to receive WINGS credit for attending this seminar please pre-register at this site. When you pre-register for seminars, you insure that credit is correctly applied to you. A WINGS credit application form will be available during the webinar. The WINGS credit form is what actually gets you WINGS credit for attending the event.

Credit applicability: 1 Credit for Basic Knowledge Topic 3

For more information on the new WINGS program, click on WINGS Pilot Proficiency Program on the www.faasafety.gov site, or ask a FAAS Team Representative for assistance with the program.

The free webinar is sponsored by the Chicago Area FSDO FAA Safety Team (FAASTeam) and the Masterflight Foundation.
