C. R. Smith Museum Presents An Evening With Dick Rutan

Special Presentation By Record-Setting Pilot And Aviation Pioneer

As part of a continuing series of presentations by leaders and legends in the aviation community, American Airlines C. R. Smith Museum welcomes aviation futurist Dick Rutan. In his presentation titled "Aviation Adventures Around and Out of This World," Rutan will talk about his life in aviation, from his days in the U. S. Air Force to his round-the-world, nonstop flight aboard Voyager to his record-setting rocket flight here in the United States.

Dick Rutan

Rutan has consistently pushed the boundaries of flight, as attested by the awards and honors he has received: Louis Bleriot Award – distance (1981), Presidential Citizens Medal (1986), Collier Trophy, for achievement in aeronautics or astronautics in America, with respect to improving the performance, efficiency, and safety of air or space vehicles (1986 and 1987) and two more Louis Bleriot Awards, for around-the-world flight (1987) and the longest point-to-point rocket plane flight (2005).

Rutan's 7 p.m. presentation on Thursday, April 7, will be held in the Flagship Auditorium of the American Airlines Training and Conference Center.
